Summary of what YOU will experience...
Arrive at The Coach House on Monday evening, enjoy your evening meal and meet your fellow guests.
On Tuesday morning there will be an optional yoga/meditation session with Elizabeth Anne Holmes from Santosha Therapy-Yoga followed by light breakfast. You will join award winning wildlife, portrait and landscape artist John Threlfall for the next 2 hours whilst he introduces you to The Mindfulness of Drawing focusing on 'the joy and insight of the process of making marks on the page rather than a preoccupation with the product.' Light lunch to follow and then John will introduce you to The Art of Seeing leading to an 'understanding of the difference between merely 'looking at' something and seeing it.' Weather permitting you can put new skills into practice with some plein air drawing. In the evening following dinner you will have the option to regroup (around the campfire weather permitting!), perhaps go on a mindful walk around Durhamhill, have some free time or you may prefer to have a neck, back and shoulder massage with Elizabeth Anne.
On Wednesday following optional yoga session and breakfast you will continue your drawing sessions with John either in the studio or outdoors (weather dependant). We hope to be able to offer an optional Guided Art Tour of 'the artist's town' of Kirkudbright on Wednesday afternoon at an additional cost- to be confirmed.
On Thursday following optional yoga session, breakfast and art workshop you will have a free afternoon to explore the beautiful surrounding area of Dumfries & Galloway or enjoy some well earned rest or a massage...
Depart Friday following breakfast. You will be given a packed lunch for your journey.
There will be ample free time for you to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside at Durhamhill or to visit the local coastline which is only a 20 minute drive away.
The Coach House is a beautifully converted listed building overlooking the village of Kirkpatrick , Durham, home to artists, musicians, writers and artisans. The closest town Castle Douglas lies nestled between the Galloway Hills and the stunning beaches of the Solway Firth home to an abundance of wildlife including osprey, red kites, red squirrels, otters and deer.
You will spend four amazing nights at The Coach House. The house itself has extensive gardens with various seating areas and an stone circle surrounding a fire pit, perfect for some evening relaxation time following a busy day of learning and creating! On cooler evenings you can gather around the wood burning stove with your fellow retreat goers. The surrounding land is home to some very friendly llamas, chickens and pheasants belonging to the house owners.Rooms: 3 x Doubles (ensuite), 2 x Twin (1 ensuite),1 x 1 Bunkbed, 2 x Shower Rooms (1 in adjacent building) and 1 x Bathroom
The Food...Caterer Anna Mockford has been extremely popular amongst our retreat goers. Let Anna nourish your body with delicious freshly cooked meals, bread and cakes baked daily whilst you focus on you and your retreat experience.
All meals are plant based using the freshest, locally sourced produce with fresh meat and seafood options. Teas, coffees and fresh fruit are always available. All food preferences catered for.

- 3 Catered meals per day- light breakfast, lunch and dinner with dessert. Freshly baked bread and cakes daily. Fresh fruit. Tea and coffee. Packed lunch on day of departure
- 4 x 2 hour Art sessions with John Threlfall.

- Your Transportation to and from the retreat.
- Alcohol will not be served, although you can bring your own if you wish a drink with dinner.

Margaret has a deep belief in the healing power of nature, creative activities, mindfulness, meditation and fun! A 20 year background in nursing during which time she lived extensively overseas, led her to an appreciation of both western and eastern medicine, and a true love of experiential travel.
Bringing like minded people together in beautiful locations, creating life changing memorable experiences is a dream role for Margaret as your retreat coordinator and 'go to person'. She will be a fully qualified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher in February 2022 and looks forward to expanding and integrating this role within Peace Lily Retreats.

John is an accomplished, award winning Wildlife, Landscape and Portrait Artist based in Deeside, Scotland whose particular interest is in the use of Mindfulness as a tool to develop and improve drawing and observational skills. His unique course The Mindfulness of Drawing/The Art of Seeing is designed for the beginner and the more skilled artist.
John's broad knowledge of birds and wildlife has been a huge hit with retreat goers. Binoculars and telescope always at the ready during walks.
Elizabeth Anne Holmes
Elizabeth Anne passionately believes in customizing her yoga sessions for each person in the group to avoid any discomfort. She will gently guide you through some easy to follow yogic positions suitable for complete beginners to the more flexible amongst us!
Elizabeth Anne runs Santosha Therapy - Yoga which offers a variety of classes and therapies. She will be available throughout the retreat to provide optional 30 minute sessions including neck, back and shoulder massage. How amazing would that be at the end of a busy day!
